Agency and Assets

We believe that all people have value, strengths and assets. That is our starting point. Our programs build on the strengths of our youth, adults, families and organizations to help them transform positively. We acknowledge and promote individual agency.  Agency, for us, means both choice and responsibility to change.  It lives in the space between circumstances and response. We teach that helping our youth, organizations and community understand the power of their own “agency” while wielding their strengths will lead to lasting and profound transformation.

The Akoben Philosophy

We believe in the power of transformation:
  • Ourselves
  • Our youth
  • Our community

We lead the struggle to positively affect change through effective programs, presentations, workshops and consultations.
