Andria N. Cole is a special educator, restorative practices specialist and writer. She taught middle and high school for 13 wonderful, difficult years and still maintains relationships with many of her students. In 2015, she co-founded A Revolutionary Summer, a critical reading and writing program dedicated to shifting harmful narratives about Black women and girls. A fierce advocate for Black children, Ms. Cole uses her writing skills and understanding of restorative practices to campaign for their protection.
Ms. Cole received degrees in writing from Morgan State and Johns Hopkins Universities.
- Ms. Cole supports Akoben by providing trainings and consultation.
- Ms. Cole is the mother of two and keeps a restorative household. She abandoned discipline some time ago and took up problem-solving instead. When her young son exhibits challenging behavior, she views the behavior as an opportunity to collaborate and impart new skills.
- Ms. Cole has been with Akoben since January, 2019.
