The Restorative Journey Book Talk

On April 30th, 2019, the author of The Restorative Journey: The Theory and Application of Restorative Practices, Dr. Malik Muhammad, sat down with Dr. Yasser Payne at the University of Delaware to discuss the new book. They explored how restorative practices connects to social justice, school discipline, cultural relevancy and our own personal journeys.

Johns Hopkins 2019 Restorative Practices Implementation Evaluation in Baltimore City Schools

Akoben has partnered with the Baltimore City Public School System and the Open Society Institute to support schools across the District since 2018. Researchers from the Johns Hopkins University, after completing a two-year long study of this work, published this Restorative Practices Implementation Evaluation in 2019 highlighting data from the project. Data shows evidence of 69.1% of school staff reported improved student respect for one another and there was a 44% decrease in the number of suspensions overall and per school.
