Trauma Informed

Our work is historically rooted in working with youth, adults and organizations that have faced adverse conditions. Many have experienced primary or secondary trauma. Events that cause feelings of fear and helplessness can overwhelm their ability to cope. At Akoben, we have a responsibility to understand the role and effects of trauma on individuals, their community and those who serve them. We believe and teach practices that are Trauma Informed in order to help empower individuals, communities and organizations towards growth and peace.

The Akoben Philosophy

We believe in the power of transformation:
  • Ourselves
  • Our youth
  • Our community

We lead the struggle to positively affect change through effective programs, presentations, workshops and consultations.
